Kitchen is said to be the
most important part of the house. Many interior designers even opine that
kitchen is the heart of the home. It is much more than just a place where
everyday meals are cooked. It is where the family members like to gather and
spend quality time together after a long day. According to many home
remodelers, family members spend more time together in the kitchen than in any
other room of the house. Nowadays, kitchens also serve as workplaces for many
people. If that is the case, the kitchen needs to have a designated desk and
gadget storage area. A space this important needs to have a decor that is both
welcoming and functional. Since cabinetry is the most important element of a
kitchen’s decor, you must see how you can maximize storage and workability of
the space with smart custom kitchen cabinets’ designs.
·
Go for cabinets that
go up to the ceiling. Leaving a bit of space between your top cabinet and the
ceiling is not recommended. You may never reach up there and this means, you
will not be able to clean that space. Rather than leaving that space to gather
dust, get a bit of extra storage space with tall upper cabinets.
·
Install pull out
shelves that are large enough to store small appliances. Keeping small
appliances like coffee maker and food processor away from the counter means the
counter looks cleaner and more organized. Make sure you design your cabinets in
such a way that these shelves are easily accessible and operable even in times
of hurry.
·
Not every kitchen is
spacious enough to have a walk-in pantry. If such is the case with your
kitchen, go for shallow and tall pantry cabinets. Keep the depth of the
cabinets within six to nine inches. This will force you to stack the items side
by side on the shelves rather than behind each other. This type of organization
will make it easier for you to store and find things. If you do have a walk-in
pantry, use barn doors on it instead of swinging doors. The latter takes up too
much floor space.
·
Incorporate narrow
pull out shelf-drawers in your designs. It is inconvenient having to reach for
jumbled up utensils, especially the ones used for stirring and cutting, inside
an ordinary drawer. These narrow units can make the best use of the cabinetry’s
depth and make it easy to locate items.
·
In case, you use a
part of your kitchen as a makeshift office, you can have a workspace that can
be ‘tucked’ away. Incorporate a designated charging station for your phone or
iPad. Such spaces need to be custom built. You can have Wood-Mode cabinets designed to include these areas.
